Happy Sweep - Dusty on Duty
This is a DTJ36 GameJam submission... well actually, a late submission.
But even thought i can't be considered for prices i would like to hear your feedback and i am looking forward to play and rate the other submissions! <3
(should be working in browser, but better safe than sorry, the .exe is downloadable too)

Additional tutorial info:
When you clean up an object you will gain a slight permanent speed upgrade + an upgrade depending on the already cleaned floor.
So you can decide if cleaning up objects first or cleaning up some floor is better, but since i didn't want to make this game a hurry and not added a timer, its up to you how to play it.

The beautiful music is from lofidreams99 on pixabay. Found it during the jam and instantly knew it was perfect for this game.
Just to be clear, i didn't touched the game after the submission phase was over, thats a question of honor!

About the game making:
After hearing the theme "One room" i instantly thought of one roomba doing his tasks. So i stopped my Baldur's Gate 3 session and immediatly went to work.
Because at this moment i didn't know that i will focus on making this game for 36h straight without even sleeping.
1 hour in: Dusty (the robot) did his first moves
8 hours in: the interior design was finished, looking calm and relaxing
16 hours in: making the "floor cleaning mechanic" was my main priority about this game, since i used a shader and shaders are my nemesis i need to overcome. It took some sweat and desperation but in the end i really liked the outcome.
19 hours in: i did a quick playtest in the browser to see the performance and it was kinda bad so i used the power of vector art to quick rescale everything to a lower resolution - and it was okayish but i also needed to optimize the game logic in the process
21 hours in: i felt like taking some time to create the titel image - since i always did that last and it always looked kinda rushed - so this time i wanted the titel image really harmonize with the game
29 hours in: a whole day was done but my focus was still up and it was time to create the art for the endscreen and somehow that took longer then i expected - maybe i was actually getting sleepy
33 hours in: when it comes to the logic of the endscreen i was figuring out how to uses image data to actually calculate results and during this process i was optimizing the game feeling and code overall
35 hours and 40 mins in: doing the audio by searching soundeffects and music (lofidreams99) on pixabay and cutting the effects to fit into the game
Last 20 mins: creating a quick tutorial, making it bug out the game, panic, fixing it and uploading the game to itch.io
But even if i was forgetting to submit it, i learned so many new things and feeling a bit more confident about using shaders and image data - and since that was my goal i am more than happy with the results.
And if you've read this text up to this line - thx to you, for listening to my words. <3
